She was born and raised in Opelika, where she also attended school. She later moved to Florida, where she was married and started her nursing career. She began her career working in the hospital and later transitioned into Home Health Care. She loved caring for her patients, many of whom she cared for as if they were her own family. In 1974, she committed her life to Jesus Christ. She eventually became an ordained Minister and served faithfully alongside her husband for many years. Her service in the ministry included Pastoring a church, having a Prayer Band, and Home Missions for over ten years. Their Evangelistic Ministry also included radio broadcasting, street ministry, and prison ministry for many years. Louise had a big heart for the community, often displayed as she visited the sick, shut-ins, nursing homes, and hospitals, praying and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul’s words in II Timothy 4:5-8, “But watch thou in all things, endure afictions, do the work of an evangelist, and make full proof of thy ministry. For I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.” To God be all the Glory!!! Louise was preceded in death by her Father, Johnnie Lee Darby; Mother, Rose Anna Darby; Husbands, (1st) Fred Preston and (2nd) Leroy Hawthorne; and Brothers: Otis Darby, Fred Darby, and Eddie Darby. Left to cherish her precious memory: her Stepson, Garry Hawthorne of Winter Garden, Florida; Brother, James Darby of Gainesville, Florida; Sisters, Adella Harris of Atlanta, Georgia, and Johnnie Mae Darby of Archer, Florida; Stepbrother, Curtis Eason (Mary) of Newberry, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
