Leroy O. Jones

Leroy Jones was born November 1950 in Apopka, Florida to Lem and Mel lones. He attended Croom's High School in Sanford, FL. After finishing high school, he moved to New York and attended Syracuse University. Later in life, he also attended Valencia Community College to continue furthering his education. Leroy had an illustrious career in United States Air Force, where he was allowed to travel to many parts of the world and throughout the United States. Pops went into the transportation trade after the military where he took a humble yet noble position with Orange County Public Schools as a school bus driver. During his tenure he had a positive effect on many of the kids he came in contact with. He later retired from the county and went on to drive charter buses. He was appreciated by those he accommodated and received raving reviews and big tips! He wasn't afraid to think outside of the box and try something new. Due to this, he dabbled in many different things from real estate to the insurance industry. Leroy loved service jobs because he loved helping others. Leroy was a kind, smart, generous, and very empathetic man. He was cool as a fan and well-liked by many - even strangers. He could hold lively conversations with anyone and was well-versed on many topics. He was also a very classy & refined man with impeccable taste in fashion, food, and women - which is why he ended up with such a beautiful wife (Juliet). Leroy was a music lover. He loved to sing and even created an original song of his own enticed Don't Let The Rain Stop The Party'. Speaking of parties: he loved to dance, have fun and enjoy life all while maintaining moral fortitude and integrity. He loved sports and played football when he was in the military. He also loved to play basketball recreationally with his kids and once coached a women's team. He was a sucker for a good boxing match as well. Pops (Leroy) took a drama class in college and decided he wanted to try his hand at acting at different times in his life. He participated in a few plays and even got a chance to have a role in a movie. Other hobbies and things he liked to do were, play scrabble, jeopardy, spades, bid whist, and tonk. Mr. Jones was the ultimate family man and never failed to provide for his wife and kids. He had 3 sons and a beautiful daughter. He loved his family deeply and was present and loving to them all. He was a true Patriarch in every sense of the word. He made sure his kids knew his family. He loved his grandkids and they all loved him. His sister Elaine was very special to him and he had a good relationship with all of his other siblings as well. He was a funny, hilarious man with a great sense of humor who loved to laugh. He loved comedy shows and loved a good joke. He was never too intense or serious. His calm demeanor and energy could make peace be still in the middle of chaos. He always seemed to find a solution to most issues by keeping his cool and trusting in God. He would often say things like, I'm a lover, not a fighter' or "Just kill them with kindness". He was rarely judgmental towards others and didn't hold grudges. One of his favorite sayings was. "Let it roll off your back like the water off a duck's back". On January 4, 2023, we lost a beautiful soul resilient. dynamic, and loving man. He fought a good fight however, it was time for him to transition. It's hard to see him go and life will never be the same without him. Although we are overcome winds sadness today, we can find comfort in the fact that he left us with many fond memories and a lasting legacy that his friends and family can be proud of. Leroy was preceded in death by Lem & Mel Jones: Johnell Jones: Willie Jones Jr: KC Jones: Johnnie Mae Hughley: Katherine Taylor. He is survived by wife, Juliet Jones; children, Todd Dyson (Lynette); Sunya Jones; Jason Jones (Felicia); Marlon jones (Michelle); siblings, David Jones (Pearl); Eddie Simpson (Jessie Mae); Elizabeth Jones; Elaine Cannady: grandchildren; Nirobi Spruill: Alexis Harper; Darien Spruill: Naomi Jones; Jalen Jones; Solomon Jones; Mekhi Young; Michael Young: Jeremiah Jones: Gabrielle Dyson.
