Joserine Chin-Quee

We gather today to honor the remarkable life of Joserine Palmer Chin-Quee a woman whose love, compassion, and faith touched every person she encountered. As we reflect on her life, it is impossible not to feel the weight of her absence, yet we are comforted by the fullness of her journey and the peace we know she has found. Sunrise: Joserine's story began on July 29, 1954, when she was born in St. Ann, Jamaica, to her loving parents Melda Wray and Josephus Palmer. Her sunrise marked the beginning of a life full of purpose, devotion, and unwavering faith. Growing up in the lush beauty of Jamaica, Joserine attended Scarborough Elementary, Alexandra Middle School, and St. Ann’s Bay High School, where she excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian. Her brilliance and determination shone through even in those early years. At the age of eighteen, Joserine made her first big move to Canada, where she lovingly cared for her niece and nephews. It was a time that demonstrated her caring spirit something that would continue to define her. After returning to Jamaica, she pursued her education at the Jamaica School of Business, graduating with honors. Soon after, she married, started her own family, and made another move this time to Florida, where she began a fulfilling career in healthcare. As a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide, Joserine dedicated herself to caring for individuals who could no longer care for themselves. This was not just a job to her, it was a reflection of her heart. She found meaning in providing comfort, love, and support to those in need. Above all, Joserine was a deeply devoted mother and grandmother. When her first grandchild was born, she committed herself to helping raise her grandchildren, taking them on adventures, sharing in their laughter, and creating countless memories. Family was at the very core of Joserine’s life, and nothing brought her more joy than being there for her daughter and grandchildren, nurturing them with the same care and love she gave to everyone else. But what truly defined Joserine was her unwavering faith in God. As a devoted member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Joserine lived her life in accordance with her deep love for God and her faith. She was committed to following the teachings of Christ and found strength, comfort, and guidance in her relationship with Him. Her faith was not just something she believed—it was the foundation of who she was. It gave her peace during life's challenges and sustained her in times of hardship. Even in her final days, surrounded by her loved ones, her faith never wavered. She knew that her life was in God's hands, and she trusted in His plan. Sunset: On Friday, August 9, 2024, Joserine's sunset arrived. In the presence of her loving family, she peacefully passed from this life, her faith and love surrounding her as she made her transition into the arms of her Savior. She leaves behind a family who will forever hold her memory close: her daughter, Shantelle Sides, and her beloved granddaughters, Shania and Saylor Sides. Her siblings, Calmeta Palmer, Monica Russell, Hazelin Washington, and Pastor Lloyd Palmer; her nieces and nephews, Winston, Denise, and Sherwin Washington, Rohan Russell, Patrick Palmer, and Deshue Palmer and many cousins, and grand nieces and nephews. all carry a part of her with them in their hearts. She now joins those who have gone before her: her beloved parents, Melda Wray and Josephus Palmer; her siblings Leonard Palmer, Hyacinth Palmer, Collin Palmer, Roy Palmer, Stanford Palmer, and Desley Palmer; and her niece and nephew, Mark Russell and Brooke Russell. Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived a life filled with selfless love, endless care for others, and a steadfast faith in God. Joserine was a pillar of strength for her family and friends, always there with a kind word, a helping hand, and a heart full of love. Her devotion to God and her family was unwavering, and her life serves as a testament to the power of love, faith, and service. In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Joserine is at peace, reunited with her loved ones in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, Joserine. Your light will never fade.
