Jeffrey Tyrone Durant

Jeffrey Durant was born November 2, 1959 in Hartford, Connecticut, the fourth of seven children. They all grew up learning the ways of God. Jeffrey attended school in Hartford and later in Manchester, CT. Jeffrey and his siblings grew up attending Victory Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop George Ramsey. As a youngster, Jeffrey had a musical ear and played the drums during service. Jeffery and his family later moved to Orlando, where they continued to serve the Lord. He lived on Meadowbrook Avenue and was known as „New York.‟ Jeffrey was a full-of-life, happy-go-lucky brother who could crack you up laughing and spoke with a dynamic voice. Jeffrey was also a proud, active and involved uncle. He loved being and playing with his nieces and nephews who were close to him. That earned him the name “Buddy”. His nieces and nephews shared, „Uncle Jeffrey could never do any wrong in my book.‟ Jeffrey thoroughly enjoyed and loved family. He attended special events like birthday parties, reunions, gatherings, and weddings just to soak in the celebratory atmosphere. He shared amusing stories, often displaying his wit and humor. He was a very formidable opponent in games like dominos. Jeffrey tried learning to cook which he never mastered, but was pleased with his finished products, which gained him the title of „Chef Jeff‟. Later in his life, Jeffrey was very instrumental in helping care for an ill cousin and his elderly Mom. Jeffrey worked in construction and the lawn care service. The Lord in His infinite wisdom deemed it timely to call our beloved Jeffrey Tyrone Durant, to his eternal resting place on Monday, January 10, 2022. His departure is a deep and personal loss to his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by them all. He is predeceased by his dear mother, Rebecca Mency, his father, Roy Durant, and his brothers, Gilbert Durant and Willie Durant. Jeffrey leaves to cherish precious memories to: three sisters: Ruth Jennette Mwansa, of Orlando, Florida, Cassandra James Johnson (Roosevelt) of Hartford, Connecticut, and Zenobia Jean Birdsong (Minister Melvin) of Apopka, Florida; one brother: Sterling Durant (Iris Banks) of Beacon, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends to cherish his memory.
