Jeanette Johnson

Jeannette Johnson was born on June 20, 1932, in Waycross, Georgia, to the parentage of Henry and Harris Davis. She came into this world with a fire in her spirit and a purpose in her life. She grew up in a time when life was not easy, but she met every challenge with faith, resilience, and a voice that would not be silenced. Strong-willed and outspoken, she was never afraid to speak the truth but always with love, wisdom, and the kind of honesty that shaped generations. She was a woman who worked hard and loved even harder. Whether she was raising her children, tirelessly working to support her family, or standing on her feet for hours cooking a family dinner, she gave everything she had to the people she loved. Her home was a place of comfort, her kitchen was always open, and her words were often stern but always rooted in care. A faithful woman of God, she didn’t just talk about prayer- she lived it. She believed in the power of scripture, the value of hard work, and the necessity of speaking your mind-especially when it came to doing what’s right. Jeannette had a laugh that could fill a room and a fierceness that demanded respect. She taught us all that strength and softness could coexist in the same woman. Whether she was reading her Bible in her favorite chair or offering one of her famous pearls of wisdom, she did it all with love. To know her was to know love that didn’t waver, discipline that shaped you, and faith that could move mountains. She leaves behind a legacy too vast to measure- one built on faith, family, and fearlessness. She taught us to hold our heads high, to speak our truth, and to trust in something greater than ourselves. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, the prayers she prayed, and the family she built with her hands and her heart. Jeannette was preceded in death by her father, Henry Davis, Sr.; mother, Hattie Davis; stepmother, Katie Mae Davis; brother, Henry Davis, Jr.; sister, Henrietta Ponder; son, Allen Walker, daughter, Delphine Walker; husband, James M. Johnson; and stepdaughter, Gloria Johnson. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Lenora Montgomery of Orlando, Florida, Dan Walker, Jr. of Clermont, Florida, Carolyn Walker of Winter Garden, Florida, Sharon Austin of East Palatka, Florida, Willie Simmons of San Diego, California, and Margaret Johnson of Leesburg, Florida; Siblings: May Francis Bryant, Carrie Saunders, Gloria Davis, Louella Davis, Magnolia Denson (Johnny Davis), Ora Jean Davis, Rudolph Davis, Kenneth Davis, and Harry Davis; 17 Grandchildren, countless great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
