Janice Marie Ortiz

Sister Janice Marie Ortiz was born on November 25, 1962 in Orlando, Florida to Elder Barbara McNealy and the late David McNealy. Janice was granted her angel wings on November 10, 2018. Her final moments were spent surrounded by her grand children that Janice loved so deeply. Janice graduated from Evans High School in the year 1980, her favorite subjects were Math, English, and Accounting. As a teenager, Janice aspired to become an Accountant as her target career. Immediately after graduation, she married Edwin Ortiz and traveled across the country with her husband. Janice enjoyed doing crosswords games, then later on in life she took great pleasure in putting together puzzles. She would spend countless hours completing these beautiful pieces, which she would then display for everyone to enjoy. Janice also found great pleasure in watching her Soap Operas, even though her twins, Janay and Janal, hated them. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She would continuously let them play in her stuff and feed them delectable goodies. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren because they were her world, and she managed to spoil them with love every single moment she had with them. Janice was a dedicated member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus, where she and her family worshiped and served for years. Growing up Janice loved singing in the choir, fellowshipping with her peers, and attending Sunday School. Her favorite church song was “Running for My Life”. She would always follow her mother, Elder McNealy, every where she went. Whenever Janice walked into a room she would radiate kindness and illuminate the room with love. Her beautiful smile and gentle words captivated the soul of anybody she encountered. Janice charmed us with her graceful spirit. She was the sunshine that gave us all a hug with her warmth. Her precious memories will be left to be cherished by: her mother: Barbara McNealy; her children: Jenise Ortiz, Jenique Ortiz, Jasmine Jones (Cedric), Joscelyn Smith, Janay Johnson, and Janal Johnson; grandchildren: Emmanuel Ortiz, Seraiah Denmark, Londyn Zayas, Lamar Jones, Zahra Simmons, Melanie Zayas, and Jaliyah Randall; sister: Sally McNealy Clavel’ and godmother: Mother Ruth Taylor. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.
