Mrs. Hilda Howard Sullivan

Of all the beautiful things in life, the most cherished is character. She whom we celebrate today possessed admirable character and she lived a great life. Hilda was a women blessed with a beautiful spirit of humility and a heart of meekness. The Beginning of her Life Hilda Howard Sullivan was born July 25, 1943 in Apopka, Florida. She was born the third daughter to Mose Sr. and Josephine Andrews Howard. Nurtured in a Christian home, Hilda accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church Apopka, Florida. During Her Life Hilda was a member of the former Choir #1. Under the leadership of Rev. Gerard Moss, Hilda was appointed to Stewardess Board #2, where here she served faithfully Hilda attended the public school system of Orange County. In 1962 she graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School where she was a part of the marching band. In the same year of Hilda’s graduation she met the man of her LIFE, Ernest “Sonny” Sullivan. This young handsome man from Oakland, Florida swept Hilda off her feet and in March of 1962 they united in Holy Matrimony. To this union there were three children: Ronnye, Cherie “Lynn”, and Tracy “Cheronda”. Feeling a need to make herself better Hilda enrolled in the Orlando Technical School to study Nursing. Her dedication and commitment to help others, she began her lifelong career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Throughout her career in nursing, Hilda has touched many lives. After her retirement from the Center for Drug Free Living, Hilda’s heart of compassion for helping others lead her to work for Vitas Hospice Care of Central Florida until her health began to fail. Of all of her accomplishments in life, her greatest was that of parenting. She was a wonderful and loving mother to all her children; Ronnye, Cherie “Lynn”, Michael, Tracy “Cheronda”, and Val creating a bond that will never be broken. The End of Her Life On Saturday Morning March 21, 2015 Hilda received her transfer noticed that read, Hilda Howard Sullivan is hereby transferred from Labor to reward, from bearing her cross to wearing her crown. Hilda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest “Sonny” Sullivan, her parents Mose Sr. and Josephine Howard, her brothers: Mose Jr., Fredrick Lee, Melvin, and William “Billy” Howard, sisters: Mary Jane Howard, Elizabeth “Pookie” Tippins, and Carrie Bell Ivey. Left to Cherish Her Life Those left to cherish her memories: Son: Ronnye Sullivan, Okeechobee, Florida; Daughters: Cherie “Lynn” Thompson (Gregory), Tracy “Cheronda” Sullivan (Kevin) both of Apopka, Florida, Val Gibbions (David), Oakland, Florida; A devoted nephew she raised as her son: Michael J. Davis (Theresa) of Ocoee, Florida; a dearly devoted Sister: Marcella Davis (Jessie), Apopka, Florida; Brothers: Reverend Jimmy D. Howard Sr. (Frances), Freddie Lee Howard (Odessa), and Jerry Howard (Japlyne), all of Apopka, Florida; A Loving Sister-in-Law: Vivian “Von” Baker of Orlando, Florida; Special God-Children: Michelle Baker-Lundy (Tony), Clermont, Florida; A dear and special friend: Regina McGruder- Jones of Orlando, Florida; Grandchildren: Adrian, Damion, Keeyon, Arriayana, Shaquana, Tocarra, Ivory, Bernard, Willie, William, Wilna, and Kamaya; Great-Grand Child: Adrian Jr.; One Aunt: Willie Mae Howard of Apopka, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
