Pastor Gregory Curtis Sims

Pastor Gregory Curtis Sims, was called home and entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2020. He was born to Pecola Curtis Sims and Luvenia Sims on October 6, 1950. Gregory attended Williston Vocational High School. Pastor Sims met his wife Bertha Boatwright as a twelve-year-old youth and later married her on October 23rd 1969. They continued on building a family of five children through the years. Pastor Sims’ career work included both construction and later truck driving from which he retired. Pastor Sims was a brother of Masonic Lodge Davis #47. Pastor Sims loved his wife. Close friends and family could hear him call her ‘Honey’ all the time. He called her often whether it was for a reason or just to say her name ‘Honey’. You could hardly see one without the other. Companions in life and forever. In 1997, Pastor Sims founded Faith in Christ by God, Inc. in Apopka, Florida. He continued to lead and guide the flock, as Pastor of Faith In Christ By God, Inc. for over 17 years. Pastor Sims could often be heard in the church praising with a loud boisterous voice “Oh Lord Have Mercy Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”. Pastor Sims loved the Lord. He could be heard by his family in his prayer closet singing ‘Your Grace & Mercy’ or ‘Pass Me Not O’ Gentle Savior’. On August 6, 2020, we the family of Pastor Gregory Curtis Sims, wholeheartedly believe that God in his infinite wisdom honored his living request and did not pass him by. Pastor Sims believed in helping the community. He assisted countless individuals and families throughout his tenure as Pastor of Faith In Christ By God, Inc. Pastor Sims believed that faith without works is dead. He was loved and respected by his family, friends & community and will be missed more than can be expressed. Pastor Gregory Curtis Sims is preceded in death by: Parents: Pecola Curtis Sims and Luvenia Sims; Parents-in-Law: Archie Boatwright and Ruthie Lee Boatwright; Siblings: Mace Duncan, Eula Lee Taylor, Mary Johnson, Clara Lucky Azalea Presely, & Alphonso Sims; Great Uncle: Sam Presely Pastor Gregory Curtis Sims leaves to mourn and cherish endless memories: Wife: Bertha Boatwright Sims of Apopka, FL; 5 Children: Andrea Sims Fowler (Jerome) of Mount Dora, FL, Gregory Curtis Sims, II (Catherine) of Orlando, FL, Consuelo Sims of Winter Garden, FL, Tara Sims Pete (Ray) of Orlando, FL, Anita Sims (deceased) 17 Grandchildren: Robyn Thomas, McArthur Davis, III (Rebekah), Robert Thomas III, Danielle Davis, Dynasty Davis, Christopher Thomas, Crystal Thomas, Ciera Nelson, Tiara Scarlett, Andrew Davis, Catara Nelson (deceased), Tiana Scarlett, Curtis Nelson II, Mya Sims, Jeremiah Scarlett, Antoniah Gullens and Jalanah Fowler; 7 Great grandchildren: Cailyn Reese, Imani Davis, Luna Thomas, Kendall Thomas, Canon, Camryn & Casey Keith; Siblings:Vera Sams of Orlando FL, Irma Jean Smith (Jack) of Williston FL, Peggy Ann Sims of Williston FL, Thomas Sims (Mary) of Orlando, FL; Sister-In-Law: Pastor Lula Bell Boatwright Harris, Margie Mincey, Linda Presely, & Beverly Sims; Brother-In-Law: Sylvester Bolden; Great Aunt-in-law: Nellie Presely; Special Friends: Pastor Jerome Williams; a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Sorrowing Friends. Hebrews 11:16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
