She was the sixth of nine children (five sisters and three brothers). She attended the Orange County Public Schools and graduated from West Side Tech in Winter Garden, Florida. Gloria worked at Lockheed Martin and Bianca before becoming a dedicated employee of the Florida Department of Children and Families Services. Throughout her tenure, she became known for her infectious smile and high-pitched laughter. For thirty-six years (36), she worked tirelessly assisting families for DCF until her retirement in 2020. Gloria loved her siblings and cherished memories of them all. After the passing of her mother, in her early forties, she moved back into her mother’s home to save it from being a forgotten place for family gatherings. Over the years, she hosted many family gatherings to show her love and deep appreciation for family and the love of it. Gloria was the absolute heart of the family and happily filled the role of “family matriarch.” No one would ever come over and leave hungry, she saw to it that everyone walked away full and satisfied. She was so sweet, humble, and beautiful and will be greatly missed and treasured by all who were blessed to have known her. Gloria D. Maxwell, a native of Zellwood, Florida at the age of 68, peacefully submitted to the will of God on December 28, 2024, transitioning from her earthly home to her eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her Father, Willie Bill Maxwell; Mother, Lula Mae McFarley; Son, Kenneth Chatman; Brother, Bobby Maxwell; and Sister, Bennie Mae Campbell. Gloria is survived by her devoted Daughter, Carmela Daley (Michael Williams) of Zellwood, Florida; and Long-time Partner of 46 years, Calvin Jackson; Brothers: Willie Bill Maxwell (Maude) of Zellwood, Florida, and Vincent Maxwell (Gloria) of Plymouth, Florida; Sisters: Evelena Dallas (Thomas) of Apopka, Florida, Lorraine Maxwell (Virgil) of Plymouth, Florida, Gail Maxwell (Guito) of Orlando, Florida, and Barbara Maxwell of Plymouth, Florida; 4 Grandchildren: Latesha Benjamin (Jeffrey), Labon Pollock III, Miki Levi III, and Bryah Blanton; 5 Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
