Felicia Rainey Harrell

Felicia Rainey Harrell was born August 10, 1970, in Winter Garden, Florida to Bobbie Jean Jefferson and Raymond Anthony Brown. Felicia was born with Sickle Cell Anemia Disease and not once, did she view her dreams and aspirations through the lenses of her illness. She lived an abundant life, filled with love, laughter and no regrets. She endured many episodes of the effects of her illness throughout her life, but she battled through like a “warrior” to the very end. Felicia was educated in the Orange County Public School System and graduated from West Orange High School in 1988 where she played in the band and was a member of the Flag Team. After graduating from high school she attended college at the University of Central Florida where she received her Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Speech Language Pathology and Exceptional Student Education. She then relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida where she began her professional career as a Speech Language Pathologist for the West Palm Beach Public School System. She also was an adjunct professor with the Palm Beach Community College System. She began her doctorate program only needing a few courses to complete before she became ill and relocated back to Central Florida. Felicia spent the past 20 years as an accomplished educator and globetrotter. Felicia travels included Switzerland, Italy, France, the Caribbean Islands, and most major U.S. cities, to name a few. She was a faithful member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and valued sisterhood, education and being of service to others. Felicia was preceded in death by her grandparents who gave her the strength, tenacity and the courage to overcome obstacles. Through their guidance she developed a warrior-like mentality. Those grandparents were: Rachel H. Jefferson, Allene Rainey and Robert and Emma Lee Brown. Felicia leaves to cherish her precious love and many memories: mother, Bobbie Jean Jefferson, father, Raymond Anthony Brown and sister, Chantel Rainey, all of Orlando, Florida; canine companion, Bijou; two special cousins, Trae Coner and Kutana S. Brown of Winter Garden, Florida; in-laws, Allen, Ann and Keith Harrell, all of Ormond Beach, Florida; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friend.
