Fannie Mae Winchester

Fannie M. Harris was born July 5, 1940 in Waverly, Alabama to parents, Willie Harris and Gladis Webb Harris. She graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School class of 1960. Fannie's early years were spent with her family in Waverly, Alabama. She was an identical twin. Her twin sister, Mae Fannie, passed away at the age of 5 years old. Fannie’s family was very close and they spent a lot of time with their maternal grandmother, Joyce Webb. For years, Fannie, Marvin, and James Webb had the opportunity to travel by train during the summer months to Chicago, with their maternal grandmother to visit their uncles. Fannie married her childhood sweetheart, William A. Winchester on June 13, 1960. The couple was married for 61 years and gave their all to raise their children as a family. On November 18, 1973, Fannie began working at Walt Disney World in the hospitality department at the Contemporary Resort. She met a lot of people working at Disney and she was loved by her co-workers and the many guests that visited the park. She worked at Disney for thirty years before retiring. Fannie was a faithful member at Fountain of Life Baptist Church in Apopka, Florida. She enjoyed worshipping the Lord with her daughters. She loved God and trusted Him to take care of her and her family. Fannie’s hobbies consisted of baking, traveling, eating good food and watching her favorite television shows…Andy Griffith, Bewitched, and soap operas; and spending time with her children. She loved her children unconditionally, often sharing with others, just how proud she was of them. Fannie’s last months on this side were spent traveling with her children to the Strawberry Festival, Vegan Festival, Kit Land Nelson Park Fair, Lake County Fair, and Atlanta, Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with her brother Jessie and his family. Fannie loved her family and relatives and she will be forever loved and missed. Fannie was preceded in death by her Husband, William A. Winchester; Mother, Gladis Webb Harris; Father, Willie Harris; Twin Sister, Mae Fannie Harris; Sister, Ida Mae Lockhart; Step-Siblings: Willie Frank Black, Lewis Harris, and Matt Harris. Left to cherish her precious memories: Children, Tanya Renee Hughley of Zellwood, Florida, Darnell R. Winchester (Marilyn) of Apopka, Florida, Celeste Taylor of Apopka, Florida, Cornelia Ann Winchester of Orlando, Florida, and Mytrice S. Winchester of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Brother, Jessie Harris (Gwen) of Atlanta, Georgia; Sisters-in-law: Leola Scott of Orlando, Florida and Evelyn McGhie (Tony) of Tampa, Florida; 4 Grandchildren: Darnell Winchester, Jr, Phillip Hughley (Revae), Danielle Winchester, and Chantel Taylor; 4 Great Grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a host of other loving relatives, church family and friends.
