A Time to be Born We are not here to mourn, but to celebrate and rejoice in the life of Emma Rosanna Churchill, also known as Mother Churchill who was born to the late Charles and Florence Williams on December 1, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was also preceded in death to glory by her brothers Thomas Worrell, Herman Worrell, John Williams, and Charles Williams. A Time to Love A covenant of love was established and Emma Churchill married and was blessed with three children for whom she worked diligently for and provided. She not only loved her children but she loved people, her family, friends and especially church families. A Time for Every Purpose Under The Sun Emma Churchill attended the Philadelphia Public School District after which she found her purpose and calling in the capacity of serving others. Her acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior increased her desire to serve. The Lord blessed her with a voice of song which she used to encourage others and glorify Him. Her ministry for the Lord opened doors for her to serve and fellowship in the Philadelphia area first. Having an intimate relationship with the Lord created the longing for her “to do the work of the Lord.” She was inspired to further serve and equipped herself by attending the Jameson School of Ministry graduating as an Ordained Evangelist. Her church home prior to relocating was Bethel Deliverance International Church where she attended Bethel Bible Institute eager to learn all that she could for a closer walk with the Lord. She was honored to serve as a committed Mother of the church. Emma Churchill served as a companion to others, received a certificate for her service to disabled veterans, served as a missionary evangelist, served on the renewal and reconciliation ministry team, ushered and sang on the choir. Her love for the Lord increased her heart for service and she became a Chaplain. She would go to the hospitals and nursing homes to bring joy and comfort to others with her voice of song and with the Word of God. Anyone knowing Emma Churchill knew she was independent with a determination that she could “do all things through Christ who strengthened her.” Knowing her meant knowing that she was frank, curt straightforward, and to the point, but meant it in love. Emma Churchill followed the call to journey to Leesburg, Florida where her final church home was Christian Worship Center in Leesburg. There she loved serving as a Mother of the church. A Time for Joy Emma Churchill enjoyed spending time with the Lord and rehearsing His promises. She loved singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and making melody in her heart, to others and unto her Lord. She enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes. In her days of better health, she was part of a bowling Scriptures league where she enjoyed bowling, needle craft: knitting, sewing; shopping for bargains and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and was blessed to travel to Spain, Morocco, England, Jerusalem, Paris, Brussels, and now to Glory A Time To Rest Emma Churchill endured sickness and illness for many years without complaint and with belief of healing from the Master’s hand. The Master made her faith whole by healing her from the sufferings and troubles of this world by bringing her home to glory on the evening of August 10, 2014. Emma Churchill gladly answered the invitation and peacefully went to be with the Lord, entering into His rest. Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” A Time To Mourn Emma Churchill, affectionately known as Mommy, Mom, Nana, Sister, Cuz, and Church” leaves to reflect on her life, love and legacy: her daughters, Denise R. Churchill-Poole (Eric), Florence M. Churchill; son, Mitchel B. Churchill; brothers, Marvin Williams (Edna); Barry Williams (Deborah); sister, Dr. Nancy Wilson (Michael); grandsons, Paul (Christine) , Nafis, Ian; granddaughters, Erica and Titilyo; eight great-grandchildren; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She also leaves to cherish in her memory, spiritual children, and her dear church families. The transition and elevation of Emma Churchill from earth to glory leaves an irreplaceable place in the hearts and lives of those who knew her and loved her.
