Ms. Dorothy Regina Morris

In a strange new city, on the coldest day in decades, among the poorest people in the city, at D.C. General hospital, a very tiny pre-mature baby girl was born two months, early to a sad and lonely mother, Annie King Morris and Dan Morris, Jr. on December 24, 1964. She was so tiny, Dan said she looked like a “wet rat”….tears…..but to me she was the most beautiful little baby I had ever seen. Her daddy named her Dorothy (D for Dan) and I named her Regina (R for Ruth) my middle name. The family moved to Winter Garden in February 1970. Dorothy attended Maxey Elementary, Ocoee Junior High and graduated from Evans High School in Orlando in 1980. She matriculated at Florida A&M University for 2 years. She later received a AA in Business Education from D.C. Technology Institute, Washington DC in 1986. She enjoyed employment with American Red Cross, Smithsonian Museum and finally received training as a para-legal in the third largest law firm in Washington, D.C. During her childhood, she loved going to church. She was active in Sunday School, B.Y.P.U., the youth choir…she loved church. She connected with Bethlehem M.B. Church, Winter Garden, where the late Rev. F. E. Wilder was pastor. In the later years, she enjoyed studying with the congregation of the Institute of Devine Metaphysical Research, where Dr. Jacquelyn Mixon serves as Dean. In 2015 she united with Macedonia M.B. Church, Rev. Willie C Barnes, Pastor. She loved Thursday night Bible Study and she attended services on Sunday when she could. Before her surgery, Dorothy had started a phone ministry. She would leave inspirational messaged on the phones of family and friends expressing Jesus’ love and compassion sharing her love and good nature. Dorothy loved reading all types of books. Often times she would name the family pets from characters of a book she had read….Bad Track, our dog and Nosscrusious, one of her dolls. She also enjoyed varied TV programs…from “PBS” specials to “Atlanta’s House Wives”, “Love and Hip Hop” and “Hallmark” specials. Dorothy believed in cleanliness! She felt it was very close to Godliness. She loved a clean house! On a few occasions, she had to “jack” Mom up, (smile). She had an easy going beautiful personality and a great sense of humor. This was the warm, love filled life of Dorothy Regina Morris, a life she fought prayerfully to maintain for a year and after receiving a double lung transplant. She lost her earthly life May 30, 2017 but gained a greater one with her Heavenly Father………..”TO GOD BE THE GLORY” She will definitely be missed! Dorothy leaves a legacy of love to her loving daughter, Danielle N. Morris (Brandon). Waldorf, MD; a beautiful two-year old granddaughter Amalya; a loving and devoted Mother, Annie King Morris, Maitland, FL; a loyal and best friend sister, Diane, Springfield, VA.; four brothers, Victor, Springfield, VA, Yul (Beverly), Brooklyn, NY, Michael (Melissa), Orlando, FL, and Derrick, Springfield, VA; a devoted fiancée, Arthur Easter; eight uncles, James King (Flossie), Orlando, FL., Charles King (Frances), Winter Garden, FL; Samuel Morris, Fayetteville, GA., James Morris, Sanford, FL; Edward Morris (Opal); Merritt Island, FL; Robert Morris and George Morris, Sanford, FL, Bernard Morris, Alta Loma, CA; four aunts, Bernice King Duncan (Oscar), Geneva, FL, E. Brenda King; Upper Marlboro, MD, Mary McCrow, Miami, FL, and Janie Daye, Fayetteville, GA; twelve nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins that were more like brothers and sisters and several close friends.
