Mr. David Vincent Morris

David Vincent Morris was named after his maternal grandfather. At two years old, he recognized that he and his grandfather, although having the same name, were different and must be distinguished. At breakfast one morning he heard his name called twice, once by his mother and again by his grandmother. When his grandfather appeared at the same time, he looked at his mother and said, “Me, „Sugarbear‟!” Everybody on Carver Street loved “Sugarbear” so much that with every gift, (birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc.,) and even just for being a good boy, he received a teddy bear. He had more than 100 teddy bears before he started to give them away to children who visited his home. As a young man, he dropped his childhood name as “Sugarbear” and his friends began to affectionately call him Cadillac “D” . He was educated in Orange County, Florida‟s public schools, graduating from Apopka High in 1987, attended Valencia Community College and Voc-Tech Business Management. David matured into adulthood, motivated by his mother‟s ambitions and his own lofty aspirations He adopted a “larger than life” creed for himself and his purpose was to be generous to children and women who were distressed because they had children. He fathered two daughters: Tiara Sharice Mack, who preceded him in death in 2014 and Tarelsha Barnes. When his sister attained her Director credentials, he opened a childcare center in 2004. The center operates in an impoverished neighborhood with a multiplicity of race relations, to provide quality childcare programming to those children who would ordinarily fall through the cracks from the lack of availability and affordability. David‟s leaves a legacy of inspiration to keep “a stiff upper lip in the face of adversity as Rudyard Kipling‟ advises his son in the poem “If”: If you can keep your, head when all about you is losing theirs and blaming it on you … if you can dream - and not make dreams your master; if you can make one heap of all your winnings and risk it on one turn of pitch and toss, and lose, and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss... Yours is the Earth and everything that is in it. And which is more: You‟ll be a man, my son! Our understanding fails us when we look into this void filled with the darkness of David‟s passing. When God sent the angel of death to collect David‟s soul, David began this journey knowing that God had promised never to leave him, even unto the ends of the Age. Jesus walked with David through the “valley of a shadow of death and David did not fear, for he knew that sometimes you only get one chance-you can‟t worry about the fall. He has since returned to visit his uncle Dilbert to let us know that he is “alright. “ David served a Sovereign God, who will not forget the many lives he led to learn of and love Jesus. Forever cherishing his memory, he leaves mourning Tarelsha Barnes (Daughter), Alyvia Green (Granddaughter), Cecil Allen (Father), Gwendolyn V. Morris (Mother), Eric Morris and Reginald Allen (Brothers), Yisrael, Daniel, Kevionte and Lord C. (Nephews), Cecelle and Christian (Nieces), Aunts, Uncle, Cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends, including Victoria Jones (his Sweetheart).
