Brandon Shervon Dawson, Sr.

Brandon Shervon Dawson Sr. was born on June 16, 1984, at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was the oldest of two boys and, trom an early age, embodied the strength, resilience, and caring spirit that would define his life. As the son of a proud military family, Brandon spent part of his childhood living in Germany for four and a half years before returning stateside to Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. After his mother retired from the United States Army, the family later settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where Brandon continued to grow into the remarkable man so many came to know and love. As a child, Brandon was naturally athletic and participated in both tootball and basketball before ultimately dedicating himself fully to football. His passion, discipline, and talent quickly made him a standout athlete at Forrest High School. His hard work and commitment earned him an athletic scholarship to Mesabi Range College in Minnesota, where he continued pursuing his football career while earning his associate degree. After returning home, Brandon relocated to Tampa, Florida, where he built a fulfilling life surrounded by close friends, family, and new opportunities. Their greatest blessing came on December 31, 2018 with the birth of their son, Brandon Dawson Jr., who became one of the greatest joys of his life. Brandon deeply cherished being a father and embraced that role with pride, love, and devotion. As his life evolved, Brandon's focus became centered on family -both immediate and extended. He was a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and loyal friend. On September 15, 2022, he and Mya strengthened their bond through marriage and continued building a beautitul lite together, creating cherished memories through family trips, laughter, and countless meaningful moments. Together they attend Faith Life Church of Tampa, Florida, and often participated in local community festivities. Brandon was known for his infectious smile, his humor, and his larger-than-life presence. A true gentle giant, he had a heart that matched his stature. He was dependable, seltless, and the kind of person you could call on no matter the hour-he would always show up, ready to help in whatever way he could. He loved deeply, laughed often, and brought warmth and joy everywhere he went. A die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan, Brandon carried a lifelong love for football, but above all, his greatest love was his family. On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Brandon Dawson Sr. was called home to be with the Lord. Though his departure leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy of love, loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. Brandon will be remembered not only for how he lived but for how deeply he loved and how powerfully he impacted everyone blessed to know him. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandmother, Merdis Taylor, of Webster, Florida; his aunts, Frances Taylor, of Webster, Florida; Sylvia Taylor, of Lakeland, Florida; Jackie Coward, of Orlando, Florida; Tina Coward, of New York; as well as his uncle, Anthony Taylor, of Tallahassee, Florida. Brandon Dawson Sr. leaves to cherish his loving memory: his loving wife, Mya Dawson; beloved son, Brandon Dawson Jr.; his mother, Deborah Dawson, of Jacksonville, Florida; his father, Robert Dawson, of Carrollton, Virginia; his younger brother, Rodrick Dawson, of Jacksonville, Florida; his sisters, Mertyce Doleman, of Tampa, Florida, and Terri Mobley, of Webster, Florida; as well as his two precious godchildren, Rylee Jackson, of Webster, Florida, and Jayden Johnson, of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his loving aunts: Lajauna Taylor, of Webster, Florida;Rica Taylor, of New York; Anne McKinnon, of Orlando, Florida; Teresa Dawson; Lorraine Dawson, of Carrollton, Virginia; and Cheryl Dawson, of Charlotte, orth Carolina. He also leaves behind his uncles, Tyrone Taylor, of Groveland, Florida; Tyrone Dawson, of Newport News, Virginia; Johnny Taylor of Orlando, Florida and Jeffrey Dawson, of Atlanta, Georgia, along with a large host of cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
