Mrs. Bernice McLaughlin Williams

The Woman who walks with God always gets to her destination! Bernice McLaughlin Williams, the daughter of Edward Arthur and Estelle Beatrice McMullen McLaughlin, was born on August 8, 1927. She was the fourth child of eight. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church in Bushnell, Florida. After marrying, she joined Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church in Webster, Florida and served faithfully until the time of her demise. She graduated from Mills High School in Webster, Florida; attended Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida and received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. On August 14, 1947, she married the late Carl Sylvester Williams in Newport News, Virginia. To this union three children were born. Bernice worked for the Marion County, Lake County and Sumter County School Systems for twenty years as an elementary education instructor. She retired in 1980. The Lord in His infinite wisdom deemed timely to call our beloved Bernice to her eternal resting place on August 21, 2015. Her departure is a deep and personal loss to her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by them all. Left to cherish her memories: son, Wayland Williams, Stone, Georgia; daughters, Chandra Grey, Stone Mountain Georgia and Cara Parson, Orlando, Florida; daughter-in-law, Emily Williams; son-in-law, Martie Parson; five grandsons, Terrence Robinson, Tampa, Florida, Marcus Williams (Adrienne), Conyers, Georgia, Jamal Williams (LaToya) Decatur, Georgia, Cameron Parson, Miles Parson, both of Coconut Creek, Florida; granddaughter; Shekina Dilworth (Shawn) Los Angeles, California; great, granddaughters, Tiesha Bradley, Jamya Williams, Milan Robinson, McKenzie Rooser and Madalyn Rooser; great grandson: Jace Williams; a devoted sister, Ruth M. Brown, Bushnell, Florida; brother, Booker T. McLaughlin, Bushnell, Florida; sister-in-law Lizzie M. McLaughlin, Bushnell, Florida; god-daughters, Linda Nichols (Lloyd) Mascotte, Florida, and Nikki Sherman (Gregory), El Paso, Texas; godson, Kenneth Mitchell of Webster, Florida; like Daughters, Joyce Johnson, Stone Mountain, Georgia and Leontyne Holloway, Marietta, Georgia; like a son, Jerome Matthews, Wesley Chapel, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended families, the Everett Family, Mitchell Family, Law Family and the Parson Family; Special friends and Confidants, Matrey Law, Mary Thompson, Diana Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. James Bryant; especially her loving cat, Katie.
