Bernice Langley Parson

I was born Bernice Langley on July 28, 1940, in Allendale, South Carolina to the late John Langley and Edith Morrell Langley. If you are reading this, I’m now gone to Heaven. It’s beautiful here, and so peaceful! After attending grade school for a short time in Allendale, my mom decided it was time for a change. In 1949, we moved to Center Hill, Florida, where my mom fell in love and married my bonus dad, Walter Avant, who would raise me as his daughter. I continued my education in Webster, Florida, graduating from Mills High School with the class of 1958. It was at Mills High that I would meet Herman Parson, the man that I would marry and love for the rest of my life. We were married on January 4, 1963, and to this union, two children were born - Karen and Herman Jr. After moving to Orlando and getting our family settled on Crooms Avenue, I decided to further my education, graduating from Orlando Vocational School as a surgical technician. I began my medical career at Orange Memorial Hospital by way of Lucerne Hospital, then to Same Day Surgical Center, from which I retired. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and attended New St. Mark Free Methodist Christ. I was in Choir #2 and the Flower Guild. When I wasn't at work or church, I enjoyed shopping, getting my hair done, going out to eat, catching a movie, and traveling to see my family. I was also a member of the illustrious Florida Mass Choir. To my family, I love each and every one of you! Herman Sr, Karen, Herman Jr., Chanta, Michael, and Jayla, thank you for the phenomenal job you did over the years caring for me. Miss me, but know I am free. I’m in Paradise and have reunited with my loved ones. As a matter of fact, I’m sitting in Pretty in A’Shanti Hair Salon, and Raniyah is waving for me to come and sit in her chair. I love you all, and I’ll see you later! God bless! I was preceded in death by my mother Edith, my dad Walter, my fatherin-law, Ulysee Parson, and my great granddaughter Raniyah. Precious memories of me will be cherished by my loving husband of 61 years, Herman Parson Sr. of Orlando, Florida; Daughter: Karen Parson of Orlando, Florida; Son: Herman Parson Jr, of Orlando, Florida; Granddaughters: Chanta Parson of Orlando, Florida, and Jayla Whittaker of Charleston, South Carolina; Grandson, Michael Parson of Orlando, Florida; Mother-in-law: Rosa Parson of Bushnell, Florida; Brothers-in-law; Alwyn Parson (Beverly) and Martie Parson (Cara), both of Orlando, Florida, and Wayne Parson of Brooksville, Florida; Sisters-inlaw: Vernita Parson Edwards, Clynell Booker (DeWayne I), and Brenda Brooks (Howard), all of Orlando, Florida; Bernadine Law of Tampa, Florida; Cynthia Cummings of Bushnell, Florida; Goddaughter, Erika D. Booker of Orlando, Florida; Godson, Elder Darold A. Ingram Sr. of Orlando, Florida; Caretaker and friend: Marie Brunet of Orlando, Florida; and a village of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends.
