Mr. Anthony Joyner

Anthony Joyner was born on October 13, 1961 to the late Marilyn Joyner and William Johnson in Trenton, NJ. Anthony grew up in Central Florida and was educated in the Orange County Public Schools System. He attended Wymore Preparatory School in Eatonville, FL, where he was a student athlete and excelled in Mathematics. Anthony ultimately received degrees in Culinary Arts as well as Waste Water Treatment. As a child, Anthony’s physical appearance was that of an older kid. However, upon his friends discovering that he was only ten years of age they nicknamed him ‘Big Ten’. The nickname Big Ten would stay with him throughout his entire life. Despite his imposing physique, Big Ten was a gentle giant with a heart as big as his stature. Without a doubt he will forever be remembered in hearts of the individuals he touched. Big Ten was very much an entrepreneur and his most current occupation was in the tree service and landscaping field. However, he was happy to lend a helping hand when needed and would be called upon to do anything from painting a house, laying a deck, or catering an event. Among other things, Big Ten loved children and was known to develop a bond with any child he came across. In fact, he helped his wife raise not only their child from the age of six but also his sister-in-law from the age of nine. His stepson Nicolas Cobb was also very dear to him. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson, two brothers Wilbur Craig Joyner, and Kelvin Joyner; two sisters Janice Williams and Marva Richardson. His mother Marilyn Joyner McNeal joined him in death only hours after his departure. He leaves to mourn his wife Carmen Thomas, daughter Carrissa Lockett, stepson Nicholas Cobb; father-in-law Walter Day; mother-in-law Mariam Thomas; brothers Edward Lee Joyner, Ricky Joyner, Millard Livatt, Jr., William Nathan Johnson and brother-in-law Jaquarri Q Massey; loving sisters Marion Joyner, Deborah Joyner Anthony, Rosa Bright, Judy Miller, Tracie Johnson; sisters- in-law Timika Day, Shanetta Roberts, Alia Roberts, Naomi Day, as well as his sister-in heart Latosha Demonia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
