Annie Mae Thornton

Annie Mae Shuman Thornton was born on July 13, 1941 in a small town named Tildenville, Florida to parents, Willie Mae Carter Shuman and Hyman Shuman. As a child, Annie Mae grew up in the church and attended Oakland Elementary School. She later attended and graduated from Drew High School. Annie Mae was a cast member at Walt Disney World, working at Tom Sawyer Island. As a dedicated member, she devoted 30 years of workmanship to Disney before retiring. Annie lived her life as a strong, independent woman. Later in life, she fell ill with dementia, which led to Alzheimer's disease, causing a difference in Annie's lifestyle. However, it didn't stop her from being the funny, strong, outgoing, outspoken, feisty, and a little fighter she always was. To know Annie is to love Annie. In April 2026, she fell sick, which led her to come to the end of her journey on April 14, 2026. Annie Mae Shuman Thornton was preceded in death by: her parents, Willie Mae Carter Shuman and Hyman Shuman; her husband, Sammie Thornton; her daughter, Gwendlyn Thornton; and her siblings, Lela Eagle, Walter Eagle, and Robert Shuman. Annie Mae Shuman Thornton leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Ronnie Thornton and Angela Thornton; a devoted granddaughter, Tracie Leonard (Trentice); grandchildren, Latoya Thornton, Takierra Thornton, Shanise Demps, Antione Demps, Ronerica Thornton, Keon Jefferson (Equanda), Christopher Fuller, Cameron Thornton, Victoria Thornton, Ronnie Thornton, Jr., Quinton Thornton, and Garrett McCree; great-grandchildren, Cedione Pierre, Jr., Treanna Mccray, Justin Rice, Amaurian Powell, Kumari Wright, Ranya Worthington, Ka'Nyrie Worthington, Alfonso Powell, Rihanna Dunn, Kingston Demps, Kai Demps, Anardrione Henry, Kanari Thornton, Ty Shawn Tyson, Kevion Jefferson, Grace Jefferson, Norkee Jefferson, Jr., Nokeshia Jefferson, Keonna Jefferson, Keonnie Jefferson, Keon Jefferson, Telaya Hart, Te' Kiya Hart, Tylinn Hart, Avriana McCree, Aviyon McCree, Corey McCree, Krystian Fuller and Ario Thornton; great-great-grandchildren, Trelon Mccray, Cadence Mccray, Zuriana Mccray, Damian Pierre, Aiden Pierre, Ke'Mari Jefferson, and Nalani Jefferson; sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Johnson of Tildenville, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving friends and family members.
