Agnes Lee Brown

Agnes Lee Brown was born on March 25, 1928, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to parents, Zeke and Georgia Ella Brown. She attended Pulaski County Public Schools. Agnes received Christ at an early age and attended Sandridge Missionary Baptist Church in Hawkinsville. She relocated to Winter Garden, Florida where she remained throughout her lifetime. In the late 50’s she united with the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend F. E. Wilder and under the leadership of the current pastor, Reverend C. R. Taylor. She was faithful and committed to the Lord and the work of the church. After her health declined, she was still steadfast, ever concerned about the church and Pastor Taylor. She always made sure her financial obligations were met until the very end. In 2018, she was recognized as one of the oldest members and also for having 64 plus years of dedicated service. Agnes nurtured and cared for those close to her heart for four generations. Her mannerism was quiet, but she always had a listening ear, powerful words of wisdom, heartfelt honesty and unwavering love. She enjoyed cooking and her home was at all times open to anyone that was hungry and had an appetite to eat. In fact, her home consistently provided peace, support and legendary comfort meals, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her hobbies included gardening and going to garage sales all day on Saturdays. Agnes was employed by Zellwin Farms for many, many years. Mother Brown, Miss Agnes or “Mah”, as many affectionately called her, was the matriarch of her family and a pillar of the Winter Garden Community. She was known for her giving heart and warm smile. She loved sitting in her chair, telling family stories and reminding everyone that, “family is all you have.” She helped all of her children and encouraged everyone to live a Godly life and to keep God first. “Mah’s” favorite sayings were: “Don’t let your right hand know what your left is doing.” “When you find them a fool, leave them a fool.” And “Stop bringing a bone and stop carrying a bone.” Mother Brown changed her address from 640 Maxey Avenue Winter Garden, Florida, to 777 Blessed Boulevard Holy City Heaven. She is now rejoicing in her new heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her Father, Zeke Brown; Mother, Georgia Brown; and Sons: Johnny L. Brown and Charles Brown. Left to cherish her memory…Children: Johnny D. Brown, Lillie D. Rodgers (James), and Friday Brown, all of Rochester, NY, Charlie Brown (Kathy), Elese Brown-Hudson (Larry), Delores Brown, and Kenneth Brown, all of Winter Garden, Florida; Likea-Son, Joseph Ray Johnson; Like-a-Daughter, Rosa Brown, Audrey Brown, and Lois Morss; Like-a-Grandchild: Kayla Ellis, Dante’ Green, Atarah Clark, Keith Jernigan, and Maurice Moss; 38 Grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
