Virgillo Arcilla Vargas, affectionately known as Gilly, left this world far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. Born on September 1, 1989, at Arnold Palmer Hospital, he was the light of his parents’ lives—a cherished son to Veronica Brown Chandler and Virgillo Bowden Vargas. From an early age, Gilly was courageous, fearless, and adventurous, always eager to explore the world around him with an independent spirit. He had a natural curiosity, a love for the outdoors, and a knack for putting things together, seeing potential and purpose in everything he touched. His friendships were built on loyalty, and he had a way of making those around him feel valued and understood. An alumni of Winter Park High School, Gilly carried a kind and generous spirit that left an imprint on everyone he met. His beautiful smile had the power to brighten even the darkest days, and his willingness to lend a helping hand was a testament to his selfless nature. Whether family or friend, he stood by those he loved with unwavering devotion, always offering support. But above all else, Gilly’s greatest joy and proudest role in life was being a father. His children were his heart, his purpose, and his greatest blessing. He loved them beyond words and was dedicated to showering them with love, wisdom, and protection. Though his time with us was far too short, Gilly’s spirit will never fade. It will live on in the stories we share, the laughter he brought, and the love he so freely gave. His kindness, warmth, and radiant smile will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing his light will continue to shine through the lives he touched. Gilly was preceded in death by his beloved son, Amari Vargas, and beloved daughter, Jahniece Vargas; paternal grandparents – Isidro Vargas and Evelyn Yearble; maternal grandfather, Lee Brown; and uncle, Robert Brown. Gilly leaves to cherish his precious memories: his children – Paris, 12 (Ashley, child's mother) & Gilly jr., 2 (Denise, child's mother & Gilly's fiancé); mother – Veronica Brown Chandler; father – Virgillo Bowden Vargas (Iris, stepmom); siblings - Lee Hughley, Porsha Carter, Todd Chandler & Iris Vargas; God brother - Jerrad “Pop” Matthews; maternal grandmother – Gladys Brown; paternal step-grandmother - Gloria Vargas; uncles and aunts – Jerome Brown, Duane Brown (Michelle), Christopher Brown (Vivian), Vanesha Brown (Eric), Theresa, Victoria, Sid Vargas (Adriana), Maynards: Glen (Nita), Scott (Gail), Vince (Sari), and Larry. 4 nieces, 3 nephews, a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
