Mother Leartis E. Bright

Mother Leartis Everett Bright, Prayer Warrior, Servant, Friend, Mother, Sister, Con fidant, was born January 4, 1929 to Sam and Mary Everett. She was the tenth of sixteen children born to their union. In 1948 at age 19, Mother accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was the first in her immediate family to accept Christ and consequently led her family, the Everetts, to Christ through her unassuming yet determined manner of evangelism. A few years after her commitment to Christ, she married Wadie Bright, Jr. on July 6, 1951. In 1956, she and her husband moved to Winter Park, Florida and shortly thereafter joined Flowers Temple COGIC, formerly Church of God in Christ of Winter Park. Over the course of years at Flowers Temple, Sister Bright faithfully served as Sunshine Band Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Youth Choir President, Church Secretary, Hospitality Member and Secretary, among other areas of service as needed. As a result of her unwavering commitment and dedication to live for Christ in every area of her life, Mother Bright was appointed as Church Mother of Flowers Temple, by Pastor Johnny Lingo, Sr. in 1986. Mother Bright proudly served and ministered in this office for 37 years. In addition to her faithful and dedicated service to the church, Mother Bright was employed for many years in Orange County in retail and education, including employment with Orange County Public Schools. Her children, Freddie Everett (Mary) of Atlanta, Georgia, G. Delaine Bright of Winter Park, Florida, and Bettye B. Edwards of Maitland, Florida, Morris L. Bright and John E. Bright (both preceding her in death), rise up and call her blessed as declared in Proverbs 31:28. In addition to her children, Mother Bright’s 12 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-great- grandchildren, and a number of God children will forever cherish her memory and continue her legacy. Her special children, members of the Hood family, Joyce, Kent, Deborah, and James, Lawrence Sconiers, Goliath J. Davis, III, Betty Williams, Shirley Briggs, Brenda Nelson, Jewel Jefferson, Sharon Adkins, Scott & Scott will praise and honor this woman who feared the Lord. Mother Bright’s siblings: Mary “Pecola” Jackson of Cordele, Georgia, Betty Rainge (Henry) of Warner Robbins, Georgia, and Curtis Everett (Margie) of Fayettville, Georgia will lovingly treasure memories of their dear sister, along with a host of family and friends. Mother Leartis Everett Bright, Prayer Warrior, Servant, Friend, Mother, Sister, and Con fidant, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 5, 2023, hearing those cherished words from her Lord, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” and reuniting with her husband, Deacon Wadle Bright, Jr., her sons, John and Morris, her siblings and close friends.
