Mitchel Farrington

Mitchell Farrington, affectionately known as “Mitch”, was born February 14, 1964 in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to the parentage of Raphael Farrington, Sr. and Gwendolyn Ruan. Mitch was a St. Thomas native, where he received his education and worked for Sunny Mountain Water for six years. It was during that time he crossed paths with Chistine (his future wife). She would often visit him during his shifts. Following that, he had the privilege to work with Environmental Health Services in St. Thomas for 13 more years before relocating to Orlando, Florida. Mitch was a loving husband, devoted father, and amazing friend. He was an incredible provider, protector, and teacher to his two daughters, Christinay and Christique. He was there for each of their graduations and was beyond overjoyed to see them achieve their milestones. He was a proud papa, who brought joy to those around him with his infectious laugh and witty sense of humor. He was a tremendous father. Whenever Christique did something, he never missed it; he attended all of the Lamaze classes in preparation of her birth! On the day she was born, he served as coach in the delivery room and supported his wife through each contraction with gentle encouragement: "Christie, push--she is coming!" One could not have asked for a better partner during such an important moment. Five years later, when their daughter, Christinay was born, he accompanied his wife every step of the way. He adored investing his time with his girls, whether it be bringing them to school or driving them to their activities. His hands-on involvement as a father showed how much he genuinely cared and wanted what was best for the family! His daughters were his world. He had an insatiable appetite for hearing about their lives, no detail or dilemma was too small to be discussed at length. The sound of their sweet laughter as he kissed them goodnight each night, will always be remembered. We are so fortunate that they remain here with us to keep his memory alive forevermore. Mitch also fiercely loved his extended family, his brothers Raphael and Miguel. He was so proud of their successes and the great fathers they were to their kids. Mitch had a special bond with Mikayla, his brother Miguel's daughter, and loved spending time with her. He was a phenomenal uncle who taught all of them the life lessons they would carry on forever. Mitch always looked to explore the world, whether it be through travel or aviation. Cruises and planes were his passion, and he dreamed of becoming a pilot one day. He was a positive leader who, even through his struggles with cancer, kept an optimistic outlook. He suffered in silence and never let anyone know how much he was struggling, yet he always found ways to encourage those around him. He bravely fought four different types of cancers and tried every remedy possible, from chemo to naturopathic treatments. He was determined to live and enjoy each day, never losing faith. His enthusiasm for life and unyielding determination to relish each day was remarkable. He asked for strength, yet still accepted with grace that if he didn't beat it, "It is what it is". My love for everyone here knows no bounds. He taught us all that when you fight with a strong will; miracles can happen. Had Mitch not endured this cancer diagnosis, he would undoubtedly have excelled in everything. His passion and integrity made him an exemplary individual—he was always the first to arrive and worked with remarkable finesse. Mitch was a bright light in our lives, and his memory will be with us until we meet again. Until then, we will keep his spirit alive by carrying on the lessons he taught us. So let’s remember him with stories and laughter, because that is what he would have wanted. Mitchel was preceded in death by his Mother, Gwendolyn Ruan and Uncle, Kevin Mussington.
